You could probably find the veterinary definition in a text book or on a
vet advise web site. That said.... It's an area of skin break-down
caused by any of several insults to the skin. Flea bite allergy, bee
sting, skin trauma, constant dampness (not drying out between swims) are
among the culprits, usually combined with some chewing or licking by the
dog.... or by scratching if out of range of the mouth.

Bald Spot from Vet shots? - My miniture schnauzer puppy had some shots a few weeks ago. After developing a bump/nott, which I am told is normal, she now has a bald spot in that area. The bump is gone, but so is he hair! Is this normal too? Thanks for any info

Mangy spot on dogs cheek - There is a raw spot on my dog's left cheek, about 1 inch in diameter, which is not healing and if anything is slowly getting bigger. But I can't say it's changing size much if at all. It looks just like a scrape or abrasion, as if she had been rubbing..
